Who is K?
Hey! My name is Kendall James and I am the founder of K’s Homemade Tours. I grew up in Bedford Stuyvesant NYC and have a strong passion for Marine Sciences. I know you are wondering what does that have to do with tour guiding? I got one answer for you, knowledge. I love to learn, and it is probably one of the most powerful tools have in my arsenal of life. I left NYC for a while to purse my passion for the Marine Sciences, however, when I came back to my home it changed dramatically. This was due to genertication and the city’s efforts to change for the better. Being someone of color, I learned growing up that NYC and the place that I grew up in was one of the meccas of Black culture in America. The way that I was able to chase my dreams and aspirations because of the great role models I had in the neighborhood allowed me to feel the lost of culture in the place I grew up as times in NYC change. My role in all of this is to remind people the beauty that lasted past the chaos of changing NYC. My tours will ultimately educate you on the growing history of NYC and how it has been the land of opportunity in the past. I hope all of you indulge in what I have found out about the city because the one thing I learned about NYC is that it is a place that is made for the people. It was never a place that was meant for one set a people, but the diversity of the NYC is what makes it the most amazing places to be in all of the world.
